Apparently, I occasionally suffer from torschlusspanik, and perhaps such feelings are accentuated on days like today, when experiencing xiaoxiao. Or at least, those are the thoughts that ran through my mind after reading this book review.
(I’m reminded of Antioch College, where we had a TV lounge known as svaha. We were told that svaha was a Swahili word describing the interlude of time between when you see the lightning and when you hear the thunder. I still don’t know if that’s true, but I’ve always liked the sound of it.)
